Join Beulah's Road Runners Club!

PURPOSE:

Road runners is a running enrichment program established for the purpose of providing children an opportunity to become more healthy and fit while enhancing their running abilities. It promotes self-esteem, sense of belonging (to a team), physical activity and healthy lifestyles. It is open to Beulah Elementary 4th-5th grade students. This program gives children the opportunity to meet other students in the school and the community.

PRACTICE:

We want all children to wear their Road Runner shirts at every practice.

Practices will be held on Wednesdays from 2:45-3:50 p.m. RAIN or SHINE. If it rains, we will do some activities in the gym or cafeteria. If the weather is nice or the sun is shining and the temperature is above freezing, we will be running outside.

ATTENDANCE:

All students will be checked in and out at every practice.

Only 3 unexcused absences will be allowed for the year. These will be referred to as attendance Bee Stingers (B-Stinger). A B-Stinger indicates you have received a demerit.

If a child misses practice, a NOTE or e-mail must be sent the following day to Coach Hubbard.

Your child will receive a B-Stinger if we do not receive a note or an e-mail.

We will look at attendance sheets to follow up on any child who misses practice.

Please be on time to pick up your student in the bus loop. I agree that if my child is not picked up from R.R. by 4:00, they will be sent to the after school program. If this happens, I agree to pay the ASP $10.00 non-refundable registration charge plus an $8.00 daily fee. These charges will be due when I pick up my child. There will be an additional $1.00 per minute in ASP if my child is not picked up by 6:00 p.m.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Beulah does have an After School Program (ASP). If you feel you cannot pick up your child by 4:00, please sign them up for ASP so we can avoid any problems that may arise. Register the family for $10. The cost per child to stay is $8.00. Information for ASP is available in the main office.

Road Runner Responsibilities:

Only 3 B-Stingers will be allowed for the year. This refers to behavioral and academic problems.

Parents and students must remember that being a Road Runner is both a privilege and an honor. It is important that the children maintain their daily responsibilities in the classroom, both academically and behaviorally.

Tennis shoes are mandatory for practice. Students will not be able to run if they are not wearing tennis shoes.

Road Runner Responsibilities include the following:

• Students who do not maintain academic or behavioral responsibilities can be subject to dismissal.
• Follow school wide discipline plan.

NO OFFICE REFERRALS!!!

If an office referral does happen, the teachers will be notified by the office and your child can be subject to dismissal from the team.

MEMBERSHIP:

The Road Runner membership fee is $20.00. The membership fee covers the t-shirts, and other administrative costs. If you have more than two children participating in Road Runners, it will still be $20.00 per child.

REQUIREMENTS:

Maintain academic and behavioral responsibilities

Attend all practices

Run in a minimum of 3 races throughout the season.

$ = WE RECEIVE A PORTION OF THE ENTRY $ = A PORTION OF THE FEES WILL BE DONATED TO OUR PROGRAM

Each race is approximately $10.00-$20.00, which usually includes a race t-shirt. Information and cost for these races will be sent home with the children. Parents need to provide transportation to and from the races. Parents are responsible for sending the registration forms to the host school by mail or delivery. We no longer can accept other school's entry forms.

RACE CHECK-IN AND TIME RECORDING PROCEDURES:

Please tell the volunteer that you are from Beulah Elementary, tell them your name, and your child's race time.
